It has been so long since I’ve posted due to a very busy school semester. We have one been to one show since convention which has been sad
The winter was rough for breedings, but the last few months have seen a vast improvement in litters being born. We are having litters out of our new stock from convention that are looking so great!
Lov’s Remington did well at his first show, taking 1st of 21 SSBs under Tex Thomas. He was just finishing up a big molt and was out of flesh, so we were thrilled to see he still was able to take the class. His first litter here, by Gabby’s gorgeous doe, Peanut, were all very nice tort bucks. These bucks are all still here and almost ready to breed. They are named Nightmare, Rock, and Xiba. Gabby is on a Soul Calibur name kick – at least until she runs out! Right now Remi has many more litters weaned and on the way.
Washburn’s Leroy produced one litter here before going to Lynne’s for a few breedings. We traded his beautiful daughter by MP Lexi, MP Leixia, to Nita Whitley for our super sweet but crazy bengal kitten Leixia
Now Leroy is back home and he’s been bred to several does for junior convention litters. I know Peanut has palpated positive to him and we expect some shadeds in the litter since she carries REW and he carries shaded.
Chase’s Blackest Black just weaned her first litter by MP Kick. She has three bucks, one tort and two broken blacks. All look amazing and we’re really excited about them.
We have had several litters by Scotcha’s Fitz, a REW buck from Sandra. His first babies here are about 4-5 months old and are looking really good. He is a wonderful breeder, when some of our mini rex bucks are not, and so we have babies and some on the way from him.
King’s Rock Me is also a very avid breeder and is producing some beautiful broken blacks for us. He also carries tort, so we’re seeing many broken torts pop up. I have really missed having broken torts, so it’s exciting to get back into the color this year.
The two does from Ashley, WW’s Flora and WW’s Calico, are producing beautiful babies as well. They both have had a couple litters for us and are on their third as we speak.
Watmuff’s Blanche just had her first litter with two cutie broken blacks.
I’m sure I’m missing someone’s update, but that will have to do for now.
This spring we used MP Evolution, MP Distortion, and of course the ever-wonderfully-producing, MP Assault
Gabby used MP Kick a lot because he was throwing such beautiful head/crown/ears. BBC’s Rogue also has a bunch of babies on the ground that are adorable.
We lost SnowBall this winter and we all have taken the loss hard
He was such a special rabbit for Gabby and was really the cornerstone of her entire herd. He was a patchwork of bloodlines, none particularly well-known, but he crossed well with every doe he was bred to. He was a one in a million buck. We had been offered $300 for him before convention, which Gabby turned down, and I am so happy she did. We were blessed to spend his last months with him. Gabby still has some of his children to carry on his legacy, as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so forth.
Well that’s it for now, with school out next week I’m hoping to update a lot more often. We’re also planning on Wichita in June and for sure convention in Wichita. We are breeding heavily for convention and are really excited for it to be so close so we can take as many as we want!

I know it has been waaaaay too long since my last post! It’s been a rough summer with record highs. We didn’t have a lot of litters born, especially in mini rex. It took so much longer for the weather to cool down that it seemed like our rabbits came into fur the couple weeks after convention this year. Now we’re working on colder weather, but hopefully we’ll get a milder winter this year.
We had a great time at convention this year! We had tons of fun with the Mangipanos all week! We also had some fun nights with Keith, Nita, and Farrah (also from TX).
We had some really good placements and were so happy with our results.
Mini Rex:
MP Evolution – 5th Sr REW Buck Open
MP Turbo – 4th Jr REW Buck Open
MP Splat – 6th Jr REW Buck Open (now living with Nancy Walker)
MP Phoenix – 9th Jr REW Doe Open
Holland Lops:
MP Meatball – 16th SSB Youth
MP Peanut – 6th SSD Youth
MP Trina – 15th SJD Youth
MP Roxie – 6th BSD Youth
Country Critters Xochille – 8th BSD Youth
MP Zonameat – 12th BJD Youth
We also brought home some awesome rabbits to help with our herd. Jeremy and I were so lucky with the amazing mini rex we picked up. We got a broken black senior buck from Doug King that has tons of depth, which is what we were looking for. We got a pair of broken blacks from Jeremy Watmuff, these bunnies have amazing fur. We got a junior REW doe from Sandra Lowery. She placed 2nd in her class to the doe that won BOV. The judge actually said our doe, Qtip, had the better body type, but didn’t have the finish. Sandy also owned the BOV doe
This doe is gorgeous, we are so lucky to have gotten her. We added two more REW senior does from Ashley McDaniel. She placed 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th in the senior doe class. That is awesome consistency! We’re super excited for those two does. To top if off our good buddy Sandra Neal gave us a new REW senior buck, Fitz. We are just really happy to have brought home such a nice bunch of mini rex.
Gabby also came home with some new hollands. First off she was lucky enough to be 1st on Tim and Ardis’ list, so she got to choose a super nice buck that would work for her herd. We picked Lov’s Remington, a senior tort buck who is amazing. Gabby already has 10 does bred (palpate positive) to him. We can’t wait to see our Remi babies! Gabby also picked up a senior black buck, Washburn’s Leroy, who is a little loverboy, just sits on her lap and licks away
She also got a black junior doe from Chase’s rabbitry and a broken tort senior doe from 4Kid’s rabbitry.
That brings us up to…… now…..
We have bred like crazy since convention. We are not planning on going to any national shows this next year, but 100% will be at Wichita convention. I think this spring/summer will be spent working on our herd. We had a long spell with no litters, so it’s exciting to have a few babies out there. We have a few babies that have been weaned and then some babies in the box. Gabby has a ton of hollands that are pregnant. Our mini rex are not all sticking, so we only have a few for sure pregnant, but we keep trying.
Hopefully we’ll have a heater installed next month to help our litters this winter.
May is finally bringing warmer weather!

We’re so glad to finally be into some nicer weather! It’s been a tough and long winter and an almost nonexistent spring. We only have one more spring show and one summer show coming up. We were sad to miss both our breed nationals, but I’m happy to announce that we have our septic issue fixed! YAY! We will be attending convention in Indy this year. Let me correct that, Gabby and I will 100% for sure be attending convention, Jeremy is about 90% certain he will have enough vacation to come with us. We have reserved our spots to travel with Bob Bergene and his wife Char. We rode with them to Kentucky and had a great time, so I’m really looking forward to the trip (and especially not having to drive!).
Well as the spring is drawing to a close, we’re reflecting on how the first half of the year has turned out. We have had great results on the show table and in our barn. All those really nice juniors are maturing into seniors and looking great. We have made the decision to breed every doe that is of age, so the June show may be all bucks. But we want to have a good selection for convention this year.
Right now we have a lot of new litters that we’re excited about:
Mini Rex:
7B x Assault – 5 kits
Aylin x Revolution – 4 kits
Phoebe x Assault – 5 kits
Bandit x Assault – 3 kits
Dharma x Cosmico – 5 kits
Holland Lops
Peanut x SnowBall – 4 kits
Shewanna x SnowBall – 3 kits
Gypsy x Meatball – 6 kits
Jujubee x Mark – 3 kits
Pinkie Pie x SnowBall – 5 kits
Mama Odie x Clyde – 4 kits
Vevecca x SnowBall – 4 kits
Hugs x No Name – 4 kits
Brandy x Mark – 3 kits
Amelia x SnowBall – 5 kits
Those are just the kits under 4 weeks old! We have another 30 or so that are between 6-8 weeks. We have a bunch more due.
Spring Updates

Spring is finally here, warmer weather sweeping in improving our moods and the ambition of our breeding rabbits. There’s been a lot of rain on and off which we despise here, with a mess of a long driveway to get in and out of, but the temperatures have been so great, I’ll forgive the rain for now.
We have moved the majority of our cages over to the smaller side of our building to improve on our heating and cooling. Jeremy did a lot of work redoing the ceiling and we will be redoing the roof soon. We did have to go back to stacking four high, but luckily I can still reach the back of the fourth row with a stool. I do have to keep the Hollands Gabby regularly plays with on the bottom two rows, so the upper rows are mostly her brood stock. We have it set up mostly mini rex on one side, hollands on the other, though it seems that Gabby’s hollands often find themselves taking up vacant mini rex holes. We kept thirty grow out holes in the other side for spring and fall juniors. We plan on using those cages only when we are growing out for our breed nationals and/or convention. This spring we are not using them since we were unable to attend either.
We unfortunately had some home things that needed to be taken care of prohibiting us from attending nationals this year. Jeremy was also limited on vacation time with our big vacation in January taking up his saved time. We have decided to plan for convention in Indy for sure this fall, as Jeremy will have enough time built up. We plan to ride with Bob and Char again and Lynne and Gale also plan to ride. It will be a nice trip there with great company!
Gabby DID breed for spring nationals, so we have an abundance of holland juniors this spring. It’s been really nice for her to have so much depth in her junior classes, being able to show different juniors at each of the shows, with the exception of a couple she’s in love with right now and have to go to every show. We had to let some go that normally we would have loved to have kept, but she just doesn’t have the cage space. It also meant that we had to sell some more of her brood stock to make room for the juniors she just had to keep. These spring litters are still coming up, some not separated, and more decisions will have to be made, but hopefully we’ve bought ourselves a little bit more time.
Gabby was lucky enough this spring to have Airplane (SnowBall) go through an eager breeding stage. It comes and goes with his age, at five years old. So she bred many does to him and still has many litters coming. Two litters that are looking really nice are Peachy’s two by him, a blue tort doe and broken tort buck. They will be going to their first show on Saturday. We had to put Peachy down after she retained kits from her last breeding, so we’re very happy to have these two really nice babies out of her. Brandy also had a big litter by him, including two broken black does, a broken blue buck, a blue buck, and a blue tort doe. What a variety!
Gabby also had her first litters by Roehe’s Clyde and we are very impressed. His three does by Rein’s Amelia are the thickest most massive little does we’ve seen. All three are beautiful, two solids and one broken, though Gabby knows one tort will need to go
Of couse Amelia’s last litter had Roxie, Lexie and Pax in it. Roxie is up to two best of breeds and Pax won a best opposite after we sold him. Lexie still has ear control, too much to show, but is really shorter and more typey than either of the others, so if we’re lucky her ears will drop!
We’re having a bit of a buck switch up here: No Name will be going down to live in Texas. This is a hard decision for Gabby, but she has so many children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren coming. We were lucky enough to get KK Thor a grand champion broken buck from Rosa to use on the herd. Gabby is also getting a tort buck from Harley Butler at nationals.
We haven’t been as lucky in our mini rex breedings, having barely any over winter. We are getting them to breed finally! We have a promising litter, of 7 blacks!, by MP Phoebe and MP Cosmico. Assault and Revolution have both been getting lots of action and we are really excited to see their babies.
We haven’t shown a whole lot, but MP Dreamlife went to her first show at Emporia and was 1st of 7 and BOS. This doe is a very young senior and wasn’t quite in coat, so she seems to still be getting better. I really hope to have more mini rex news over the next few posts.

I’m sure you have all noticed that I have still not been able to update our site, but that should just be for a couple days longer. We do have some updates and new pictures on Gabby’s Facebook page. You can find it by
searching for “Mossy Possum Holland Lops”. We really post a lot from William’s side also, so not to confuse anyone, rabbits born at his house carry his prefix “Rein’s” , hollands born here carry the “Mossypossum” prefix. We split some litters and how we split them decides their names. So in a lot of cases both prefixes can be intermixed, it’s just based on sematics.
We are really making an effort to get as many of the many juniors out to shows for show manners, so Gabby was able to take out some juniors that hadn’t went to shows before. She didn’t bring as many seniors, partially because her show does were bred or nursing litters, namely Chocolate Crinkle, Baby Cakes, and Peanut. Hoping to continue to switch out juniors between shows, so we don’t keep that “no show manners” problem. We had a great time at the show, it was wonderful that it was close so Jeremy could drive up after he got off work at 7 am. It was really exciting to have our fist mini rex win of the year!
Here are our results:

since she is in such gorgeous condition and coat.

Well, we made it home from the first show of the season…. It was a bummer that it landed on Jeremy and I’s 6th Anniversary and that he had to work all day
But it was exciting that Gale and Lynne Schultz came down and picked Gabby and I up to take us there when it had been forever since we’d seen them! We really had missed them and we really enjoyed the trip, especially the drives!
This was Gabby’s first outing for several of her little juniors. It’s a little earlier/younger than she usually brings them out, but we thought it’d be a good opportunity to get them some show manner experience. We were very happy with the results and placements, and some of them actually behaved as opposed to hunkering down!
Here are the results:
Show A (judged by Randy Shumaker)
2nd SSB – MP Mark
1st SSD – MP Peanut
4th SSD – MP Bardot
2nd SJB – MP Booger
1st SJB – MP Rebel

3rd BJB – MP Pax
4th BJB – MP Kingston
4th BJD – MP Love
5th BJD – MP Bijou
3rd BJD – MP Tristen
In mini rex we only took 4 rabbits since I didn’t know what kind of time I’d have without Jeremy or William’s help for Gabby.
In Show A MP Revolution (sr black buck) was BOSV and he was BOV in Show B. MP Dharma (jr black doe) was BOSV in Show B. Our senior REW doe MP Atlantis was BOV REW in both shows. Not bad for only 4 rabbits!
We are excited to get to our next show which is another few weeks away, as it gives those juniors more mature time, and maybe with warmer weather coming Gabby will be working with her juniors more often and teaching them those well needed manners!
Other news, which I have posted about on our site is that Gabby is releasing several breeding does, possibly bucks over the next couple months. These are really nice rabbits, she is just running out of room on her side of the rabbitry!
